Brown Spots
Dr. James D. Fontaine
Brown spots are also called solar lentigines, liver spots, or sunspots. These are small dark areas on your skin that vary in size and appear on areas most exposed to the sun. They are flat and can be tan, brown, gray, or black. Risk factors include being older than 40 years old, having fair skin, and having a history of frequent sun exposure or tanning bed use. If your age spots bother you, they can be removed using intense pulsed light (IPL), also known as photo facial treatment. This is a simple, non-invasive treatment that will make you skin look much more youthful with more even tone and texture. You can also decrease the appearance of pigmented lesions and improve your overall skin appearance with our skin brightener.
