Fine Lines
Dr. James D. Fontaine
Fine lines are a sign that your skin is aging due to loss of collagen and elastin. They are small and shallow and typically associated with repetitive movements such as smiling, laughing, squinting or frowning. The goal is to treat them before they progress into deeper wrinkles. The best treatment is usually multifaceted including skin care products, injectables and induction of collagen stimulation with laser or radiofrequency. Daily skin care, including retinols and retinoids, reduces fine lines as do injectables which relax the underlying muscles of expression. A more potent therapy is to induce collagen production with lasers that penetrate deep into the deep layer of the skin (dermis) and the connective tissue below the skin, such as our Alma ClearLift or with our Alma Vshape radiofrequency that also penetrates deeply.
