Rosacea
Dr. James D. Fontaine
Rosacea is a skin condition that causes redness and is often associated with small, red, pus-filled bumps or skin thickening with a bumpy texture. It typically begins on the nose and cheeks, but can slowly spread to the forehead and chin and beyond. People with rosacea are often quite sensitive to the sun so it is important to use a broad-spectrum sun screen daily and wear sun-protective clothing and hats. Skin affected by rosacea may also be sensitive to chemicals, so it is important to use high-quality skin care products that don’t contain inflammatory additives. Intense pulse light (IPL) works well to treat rosacea, especially if there is primarily redness without an abundance of bumps. Light from the IPL is absorbed by the targeted blood vessels which destroys them and reduces redness. Contact us today to schedule your IPL rosacea treatment in San Diego, CA.
